Today is Remembrance Day. On this day, we honour those who have made great sacrifices while serving our country. Canada is a beacon of liberty throughout the world thanks to the brave service people who have dedicated their lives to our country. We live in a liberal democracy in one of the best countries in the world. Even here … especially here, we must always remember to fight every single day to preserve the freedoms that are their gift to us.
This is a country that welcomes newcomers, embraces imagination and enables people to express new and exciting ideas. Our shared values can be the strongest fabric that bind us together, but also the most fragile, precious threads that we must always guard in our hearts and with our actions.
On this day … the eleventh day of the eleventh month, and at the eleventh hour, I encourage us all to take a moment to honour the members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have fought and sacrificed for peace around the world, and continue to do so today.
