It’s Time to Stand on Guard …

The so called Freedom Convoy is headed to our city, to occupy Queen’s Park including our critically important hospital district where MaRS is located, this morning.

It is disheartening to see that the convoy has been co-opted by fringe groups who are using this as a platform to promote racism and hate against our brothers and sisters from the Jewish, Muslim, Black, intersectional and diverse communities.

The right to peaceful protest has an important place in Canadian society.

But not hate, not racism, not violence. These have NO place here.

If you are not aware of the threads of hate and racism that have infiltrated their way into these protests, I ask that you please take the time to get informed and to share what you learn. We all have a part to play to stop MIS-information and to get BETTER information out in our communities.

History has taught us, over and over again, that good people must stand up for what we believe in, for the values that we aspire and work towards, to do what’s right and not just what’s easy … we cannot be silent or complicit when we see this type of corrosive toxicity infecting our community, or being directed at anyone in our communities.

Oh Canada … it’s time to Stand on Guard.

Take good care, and stay safe everyone.
